QUALCOMM INVENTOR LAB: The Ultrascope

James Parr, asteroid hunter, presented to the Quartz Next Billion Conference. His invention, the Ultrascope, is a 3D printable mobile observatory that empowers citizen astronomers to spot asteroids as they pass by our planet.

All they need is a smartphone running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Learn how to build your own Ultrascope and check out the Open Space Agency's work here.

Made this work for the fine folk at Special Guest in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Before I ever got there, Special Guest worked with Qualcomm to spearhead and develop the Qualcomm Inventor Lab, a tech incubator of sorts that supports artists and inventors who employ mobile technologies.

I directed this video which simulates the LIVE presentation.
Each cut represents a different slide in James's presentation.
